Veil Buying Guide

Size Guide

The no.1 question most brides encounter is ''How do I choose the right veil length for my dress?'' So before we decide the infamous question it is important to understand the veil terminology. Below is a veil chart that addresses the basic veil lengths and below is a description of each:

veilchart.jpg

20'' veil is the shortest length veil. This veil is also sometimes called a shoulder length veil.

Blusher is the veiling that covers the face when you walk down the aisle. The blusher can be worn during the entire ceremony until the first kiss as husband and wife or it can be pulled back over the bride's face before she is given away by the father (or by person who walks the bride down the aisle) A blusher can be any length from about 20'' to even a dramatic 60'' or more.

Elbow length veil is just that; a veil that hits the bride below the shoulder or near the elbow. A common length is around 25''.

Fingertip length hits.. you guessed it, right at the fingertips or around the hand. A typical length for this veil is 36'' but also known as a 72'' when it is a 2-tier.

Ballet length is a veil that hits your body somewhere between the knees and calves. This veil is also sometimes called a waltz veil. A typical measurement of a ballet length veil is 56''. This is usually only the bottom tier of a 2 tier veil, you also have the blusher if it is required.

Floor length veils are 108'' long and extend all the way to the ground. The width of the veil can range anywhere from 54'' wide to 108'' wide, depending on the width of your dress or personal preference.

Chapel veils usually finish at the end of a traditional length of a train on most wedding gowns. They are typically worn in church settings for a dramatic walk down a long aisle.

A Cathedral veil is approximately 144'' or longer.

Different designer's may come up with new names for each of these lengths, but the names listed above are the most common. Every one of these veils can come in a variety of lengths and widths. Common lengths are listed above. The most common veiling widths are 108'' wide, 72'' wide and 54'' wide.

EV002.jpg

Centre gathering- Less gathering on the comb. Veil stays in a complete circle and edges hang around the shoulder, also known as as a drop shoulder.

Full gathering- Gives more gather and height to your veil, all ends meet at the comb. This always applies to a Single Tier.

Scattered Accents

Scattered pearl, beads or sequins give the veil more prominence. The accents are secured to the veil using special glue, this is applied by our expert team who have many years of experience. Beads and crystal drops are sewn on by hand. We wouldn't recommend having beads sewn on as they are so small all you tend to see is more thread than you do accent.  Here at Wedding Veils Direct we can sure that we use only Swarovski accents at all times This is because they are simply the best and the amount of facets that are on each piece just adds more allure to that finished product for you special day.

Rhinestones / Diamantes

Here at wedding veils direct We offer rhinestones in all of Swarovski colours, The most commandingly colours that we us are perfectly clear with a silver backing, which to us are the next best thing to diamonds, while A/B aurora Borealis crystals have a fired on iridescent finish that gives off a rainbow effect in natural light, They also can reflect colours that are near in the vicinity, Our A/B do not have a silver backing Our crystals we use are available in 2-3-4-5-6 mm even up to 25mm  and are also  available in the whole collection of Swarovski colours through the custom order process see colour chart for available colours.

Rhinestones sparkle like diamonds on one side on the other they are foil backed that enable them to have the affect of a diamond and they tend to emerge as black dots in photographs when they go above certain sizes, here at Wedding Veils Direct we use the smallest of the rhinestone to prevent this, they can be applied back to back which we do on the blusher of all our wedding veils.
The colour choice that is available in the Rhinestones is unlimited. We have attached a colour chart for you to view

Swarovski Crystal

Swarovski are renowned for their beautiful lead glass crystal with the unique multi faceted cut The crystals reflect the light from almost every angle where as the A/B not only reflect the light but give off a rainbow of colour A/B meaning Aurora Borealis a term taken from the northern lights.
